The Tajar Tales CD

Tajar's CD is 23:51 minutes in length. The narration is full of delightful, originally scored, bluegrass music accenting Tajar's folly-filled escapades. Each tale is introduced by a verse from the Tajar song. Gothold's narration is perfect for children to follow as they read the storybook and makes a magnificent sound-track for puppet shows.

Music and Narration

by

Stephen Gothold

Dr. Stephen A. Gothold wrote the music and lyrics for the 1993 edition of Tajar Tales, combining bluegrass music and charming songs about the Tajar. His big, deep "daddy" voice makes his narration of the original text a unique delight. For a child, there is nothing quite

like climbing up on daddy's lap to snuggle and listen to your favorite story.

Dr. Gothold received his Master of Arts degree from Occidental College and Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Southern California. In addition, he studied under Helmuth Rilling at the International Bach Academy in Stuttgart, Germany. He began his musical career as a Choral music teacher at Whittier High School where he also directed

several musicals. In 1977 he became the Director of Choral Activities at Whittier College

where he founded Chorale Bel Canto. He has been the group's conductor and music director since 1981.

For more than forty years, Dr. Gothold has combined careers in concert music, music education, and musical theater. He has served as musical director for more than one hundred musical productions in education, community, and professional theater on both coasts, and was twice recipient of the Dramalogue Critics Circle Award.
